A shatavari ingredient marketed by NXT USA as Xeya Modern Shatavari was found to improve ovarian morphology and androgen-related symptoms in a population of 60 women with polycystic ovarian syndrome in a clinical study. The findings were published in Food & Nutrition Research.

“Many women don’t realize how deeply hormonal imbalance can influence reproductive health, metabolism, and skin,” said Eric Anderson, managing director of NXT USA. “Xeya Modern Shatavari supports natural hormone balance, helping promote healthy ovarian function, consistent cycles, and hormonal markers tied to clear skin and metabolic resilience.”

The 12-week, randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled study found that, compared to placebo, there were noted improvements in measures of ovarian health, hormonal balance, metabolic support, physical improvements, and menstrual regularity.

Improvements to ovarian morphology included a reduction in ovarian volume (21%), reduction in cyst size (41%), and reduction in follicle count (20-25%).

There was a significant reduction in total testosterone (33.9%), sex hormone-binding globulin (31.8%), and an 18.6% improvement in the ratio between luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone.

Supplementation resulted in a 14% improvement in insulin sensitivity, as measured via the Homeostatic Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR).

Visual physical improvements included a reduction in acne severity (44%) and hirsutism (46%).

The authors of the study also noted an improvement in menstrual cycle consistency over baseline in the treatment group.

The supplement was well-tolerated with no serious adverse effects reported.

This new publication follows a study published in July, which found the ingredient helped to support a range of menopausal symptoms and quality of life measures.
