Unibar Corporation Granted European Patent for CapsiClear Eye Health Ingredient

Unibar Corporation, a developer and supplier of dietary supplement ingredients, announced that it has been granted a patent in Europe for CapsiClear, a Capsicum annum extract for eye health. The patent is a major step in bringing the ingredient to international markets.

CapsiClear is standardized to 50% capsanthin, and may support healthy ocular pressure within normal ranges, according to clinical studies.

The new patent covers CapsiClear’s unique composition for use in reducing intraocular pressure associated with normal tension glaucoma, primary open angle glaucoma, angle closure glaucoma, and/or combinations of these glaucoma types. The patent covers key European markets, including France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, the U.K., Greece, Hungary, Ireland, and Poland.

Other studies suggest the ingredient can also support healthy tear production and eye hydration.

Dry eye is prevalent in Europe, with estimates suggesting that 10-30% of the population is impacted, according to Unibar, with longer screen time in daily life being a major contributing factor, along with other systemic health issues, poor sleep, prolonged outdoor exposure, and effects of aging.
