Ritual has launched its first-ever iron supplement, called Iron Bioseries. The high-dose, pregnancy-safe iron supplement is designed for women to take during key life stages such as pregnancy and postpartum, where low iron levels are common.

The BioSeries supplement features Ritual’s three-in-one capsule technology, and the supplement is meant to be taken every other day to support the release of iron when the body’s hepcidin levels are typically lower. This is intended to improve iron absorption by working with the body’s natural rhythm.

Having a timed-release formula, and the use of iron in the form of ferrous bisglycinate, also reduces potential side effects associated with iron supplements.

The supplement features 60 mg of ferrous bisglycinate in total, along with 24 mg of vitamin C to improve iron absorption and support immune function, and 260 mcg of beta-carotene to promote iron metabolism and offer antioxidant support.

The three-in-one BioSeries capsule technology is meant to be taken in the morning. It releases 20 mg of iron within one hour of ingestion, when hepcidin levels are typically at their lowest. Another 20 mg of iron is then released over the next 2 hours, to ease digestive side effects and promote iron absorption before the body’s hepcidin levels peak. The final 20 mg of iron is then released over the next 4 to 6 hours to support GI tract comfort.

Whether pregnant, postpartum, or managing low iron levels, getting enough iron is essential to support red blood cell formation, oxygen transport throughout the body, energy metabolism, reduced fatigue, immune function, and healthy fetal development during pregnancy.
