PharmaLinea, a Slovenian developer and manufacturer of private label supplements, announced the completion of a clinical study evaluating its finished iron formulation >Your< Iron Forte Capsules, in treating iron deficiency. The study still awaits publication.

The 12-week study included 101 adults with mild-to-moderate, non-anemic iron deficiency, who either took PharmaLinea’s supplement or a low-dose ferrous sulfate. Results demonstrated comparable improvements in hemoglobin and iron status, but PharmaLinea’s product had a more favorable tolerability profile with significantly fewer side effects.

“This is already the third study confirming the efficacy of the finished products in >Your< Iron Line, which has also received several industry awards,” said MatevĹľ AmbroĹľiÄŤ, marketing director.

Iron deficiency is the most common nutritional deficiency globally, and is most prevalent in women of reproductive age and children. If unaddressed, it can progress to anemia. The World Health Organization estimates that 40% of children between the ages of 6 months and five years, 37% of pregnant women, and 30% of women between the ages of 15 and 49 are anemic.

However, poor tolerability remains a key challenge, and a barrier to consumers’ adherence to treatment.

PharmaLinea’s >Your< Iron Line was developed as a gentler alternative to conventional iron supplements such as ferrous sulfate, which have substantial gastrointestinal side effects. >Your< Iron Syrup, the company’s liquid iron formulation, has also been tested in a clinical study on iron-deficient children, and has received several industry recognitions in categories such as flavor and functional beverages, the company noted.
