About 4 months after it acquired prebiotic soda brand Poppi for nearly $2 billion, PepsiCo has doubled down on the “better-for-you” soda bandwagon by introducing Pepsi Prebiotic Cola, which the company said contains 5 grams of sugar, 30 calories, no artificial sweeteners, and 3 grams of prebiotic fiber. Flavors will include Original Cola and Cherry Vanilla.

Available in 12 oz. single cans for trial and 8-packs of 12 oz. cans, the new offering will be available online this fall and at retail in early 2026, located in the traditional carbonated soft drink aisle, the company said.

Pepsi said the new product is created “to reflect the tastes and values of today’s cola lovers” and designed to meet “the changing consumer preferences for more functional ingredients.”

“From the iconic blue can, to the consumer-preferred Pepsi Zero Sugar, our portfolio has always adapted to the needs and flavor preferences of the consumer,” Ram Krishnan, CEO, PepsiCo Beverages U.S., said in a statement. “Pepsi Prebiotic Cola represents the next leap forward in giving consumers choice, optionality and functional ingredients in their cola experience, without sacrificing the iconic Pepsi taste we’re known for delivering.”

Poppi Class Action Settlement

The introduction of Pepsi Prebiotic Cola follows the company’s acquisition of popular soda brand Poppi, which in 2024 faced a class-action lawsuit alleging false advertising the product is “gut healthy.”

Just this month Poppi’s former owner, VNGR Beverage, LLC reached a settlement to pay $8.9 million to consumers who purchased any flavor or package size of Poppi beverages between Jan. 23, 2020, and July 18, 2025.

The company has not admitted to any wrongdoing.
