TurmXTRA, Nutriventia’s water-dispersible turmeric extract standardized to contain 60% curcuminoids, has received approval from Health Canada for use in dietary supplements.

“This milestone reinforces TurmXTRA as a credible, compliant, and innovative turmeric ingredient for the Canadian market,” said Vishal Shah, co-founder of Nutriventia. “It also marks an important step in expanding our low-dose, water-dispersible turmeric into a key global market, delivering real-world efficacy with quality and consistency.”

Health Canada authorized the following claims for products containing TurmXTRA:

  • Source of (an) antioxidant (s)/Provides (an) antioxidant (s) that help (s) fight /protect (cell) against/reduce (the oxidative effect of/the oxidative damage caused by/cell damage caused by) free radicals.
  • Source of (an) antioxidant (s)/Provides (an) antioxidant (s).
  • Helps support improvement in moderate-intensity aerobic exercise (such as walking) in individuals with joint pain.
  • Helps reduce post-workout pain/discomfort/soreness.
  • Helps reduce knee joint pain in healthy individuals.

TurmXTRA’s health claims are supported by eight studies, including three pharmacokinetic studies, four human clinical trials, and a meta-analysis.

“TurmXTRA has been extensively evaluated through multiple pharmacokinetic studies designed to assess its curcuminoid bioavailability,” said Shah. “These studies consistently demonstrate that TurmXTRA enables significantly enhanced absorption, allowing for lower daily dosages without compromising efficacy.”

One study found that a single daily dose of 250 mg of TurmXTRA delivered curcuminoid bioavailability equivalent to that achieved with three 500 mg doses of a standard 95% turmeric extract.

Another study compared a single 250 mg dose of TurmXTRA against three 500 mg doses of a branded 95% turmeric extract, combined with 5 mg of piperine. TurmXTRA resulted in an 11-fold greater bioavailability of total curcuminoids at a dose that was 10-times lower than the standard formulation.

A late 2025 study found that TurmXTRA supported measures of skin health. Participants consuming a 250 mg dose once daily for 90 days saw enhanced measures of skin hydration and glow, along with a reduction in the intensity of pre-existing blemishes. Participants also self-reported noticeable improvements in skin texture, radiance, hydration, glow, and tone evenness.

“Engineered to overcome the limitations of conventional turmeric, TurmXTRA offers a simplified, clinically-supported solution, one dose comparable to three doses of standard 95% turmeric extract, making effective musculoskeletal wellness more accessible to consumers in Canada and beyond,” Shah said. “Health Canada’s approval of TurmXTRA reinforces our commitment to clinically validated science-backed turmeric innovation.”
