Garden of Life has launched Sprouted Barley Protein + Probiotics, a plant-based protein powder made from just five ingredients.

Each serving of the new supplement contains 21 grams of protein from sprouted barley and rice, and contains all essential amino acids. It also contains 1 billion CFU of the clinically-studied probiotic Bacillus coagulans SNZ1969, for digestive support.

It is available in vanilla caramel and chocolate flavors, and is sweetened with natural flavors like cocoa, vanilla, and stevia leaf extract.

The new powder has a smooth, light texture, making it easy to blend into smoothies, mix with water, or incorporate into baked goods, the company noted.

The plant-based protein powder helps to close the loop on food waste from the food and beverage industry, and is Upcycled Certified by the Upcycled Food Association, a global third-party certifier for upcycled ingredients. It’s also Non-GMO Project Verified.

“The introduction of our new Garden of Life Sprouted Barley Protein + Probiotics addresses the evolving needs of today’s consumers, who are placing a greater emphasis on simple, sustainably-sourced ingredients as well as increasing their protein intake,” said Heather Storms, senior director of marketing at Garden of Life. “Made using just five ingredients and upcycled plant proteins, it’s protein powder with a purpose, and reflects our brand’s commitment to supporting people and the planet.”
