Cyvex Nutrition, a nutraceutical manufacturer and distributor and subsidiary of the Bioriginal Group, has partnered with Vietal Nutrition to launch LLP-1, an ingredient formulated for weight management.

The blend contains highly viscous polysaccharides and esterified fatty acids, and is supported by multiple U.S. patents. It has a neutral sensory profile and is suitable for capsules, powders, sachets, coffee stick packs, water enhancers, bars, and functional foods. LLP-1 is also suitable for pet products, the company reported.

“Our partnership with Vietal Nutrition to bring LLP-1 to market opens up great opportunities for both companies,” said Matthew Philips, president of Cyvex Nutrition. “LLP-1 fills a real gap in the market for a stimulant-free weight management support ingredient backed by strong research. By combining our strengths, we’re giving formulators a solution that’s both in demand and ready to scale.”

In a clinical study, LLP-1 was associated with favorable changes in leptin and adiponectin, which are hormones that play a role in satiety and metabolism. Leptin may signal feelings of fullness, but it may have diminished effects in people with excess body weight. In the study, participants who took LLP-1 experienced reductions in serum leptin levels, potentially indicating that the supplement helped the body respond to serum leptin and satiety cues. The participants who took the supplement also had greater increases in concentrations of adiponectin, a hormone associated with fat metabolism and glucose utilization. According to the authors, LLP-1 may support healthy metabolic function and weight management when used as part of a healthy lifestyle.

The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial evaluated the ingredient in women (11 LLP-1 participants versus 11 placebo) with a BMI of 32.7 over an 8-week period, alongside a calorie-restricted diet and exercise program. Participants in the LLP-1 group also reported greater improvements in measures of satiety and body composition, and experienced greater reductions in fat mass and waist circumference. The ingredient was well-tolerated with no digestive discomfort.

“LLP-1 is one of the most exciting weight management support ingredients I’ve seen in years,” said Loma Vanderhaeghe, CEO of Vietal Nutrition and founder of Smart Solutions. “Clinical data suggest that LLP-1 may support appetite control and metabolic wellness in a way that is stimulant-free and well-tolerated. By addressing key factors such as appetite control and metabolic wellness, LLP-1 offers formulators a unique ingredient to help meet the growing demand for effective, science-backed weight management support solutions.”
