Vidya, a manufacturer specializing in herbs, probiotics, and other health ingredients, launched ShataVida, a blend of two botanicals for menopause support.

The ingredient is a combination of Shatavari, a traditional Ayurvedic botanical used for women’s health, and Ashoka bark, a novel antioxidant and inflammatory modulating ingredient. The blend was studied in a recent placebo-controlled human clinical trial, and demonstrated progressive and sustained improvements across a variety of vasomotor, physical, emotional, sexual, and sleep-related symptoms, the company reported.

The company also reported that supplementation with the ingredient resulted in sustained increases in estradiol and a reduction in follicle-stimulating hormone levels, which are markers of an improved adaptive response to menopause.

“I am really excited to see that ShataVida offers clinical benefits for menopausal health at such a low material input,” said Christopher Bailey, PhD, director of technical business development at Vidya. “Ingredient options already on the market in this health benefit category are often limited in how formulators can use them due to high dose requirements.”

The ingredient is standardized to 10% saponins, helping to offer consistent potency at a formulation-friendly dosage.
