For the first time, the Consumer Healthcare Products Association’s (CHPA) Regulatory, Scientific, and Quality (RSQ) Conference will feature senior leaders from the centers of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that regulate over-the-counter medicines, dietary supplements, and over-the-counter medical devices.

The conference, which will take place September 9-10 in North Bethesda, Maryland, will open with a general session panel discussion featuring George Tidmarsh, MD, PhD, director of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER); Kyle Diamantas, JD, deputy commissioner for the Human Foods Program (HFP); and Michelle Tarver, MD, PhD, director of the Center for Devices nad Radiological Health (CDRH). These leaders each oversee product categories represented by CHPA, and report directly to FDA Commissioner Marty Makary. The session will be moderated by Scott Melville, president and CEO of CHPA, and will cover topics including staffing, perspectives on self-care, agency projects and priorities, and questions from attendees.

Other agency staff featured at the event will include Theresa Michele, MD, director of the Office of Nonprescription Drug Products; Cara Welch, PhD, director of the Office of Dietary Supplement Programs; and Vinetta Howard-King, acting deputy associate commissioner for medical products in the Office of Inspections and Investigations.

“With so much change taking place at FDA this year, the regulatory landscape is evolving faster than ever,” said Melville. “That truly makes this year’s RSQ conference a can’t-miss event, featuring the strongest lineup of FDA leaders and industry experts we’ve ever assembled. Beyond timely sessions and regulatory updates, RSQ provides a chance for industry stakeholders to meet and exchange insights that will strengthen the important role that self-care plays in our nation’s healthcare system.”

Over the course of two days, the RSQ conference covers a mix of regulatory, scientific, and product quality sessions for consumer healthcare products executives. Attendees will hear from leaders at FDA, USP, and experts in industry and academia on issues affecting the marketplace.
