Zeus Hygia Launches Bioavailable Berberine Ingredient Metaberine

Zeus Hygia Lifesciences, has launched Metaberine, a berberine ingredient enriched with a green process using a proprietary technology called BioSolve. The ingredient delivers enhanced solubility, bioavailability, and a quicker onset of action than conventional berberine ingredients, the company reported.

Blood sugar has become a key area of consumer interest in recent years, due to its role in managing metabolism and weight. However, pharmaceutical treatments are costly and have limited accessibility, and some seek out natural alternatives.

Overcoming Berberine’s Challenges

Berberine extracts face significant limitations. Conventional extracts are absorbed into the bloodstream at a rate of less than 2%, warranting high daily dosages ranging from 500 to 1500 mg per day. These extracts also have a delayed onset of action and gastrointestinal side effects like diarrhea, bloating, and nausea. Sustained results are harder to achieve without a long-term, high-dose use.

“Our proprietary BioSolve technology, utilizing a 100% aqueous process, produces a highly uniform, porous powder with dramatically improved solubility and bioavailability,” said Arunkanth Krishnakumar, PhD, co-founder and CEO of Zeus Hygia.

Metaberine overcomes each of these challenges and is suitable for a variety of applications, including capsules, sachets, and more.

Ongoing human clinical trials are planned for the ingredient, and bioavailability data is available, the company reported.
