Comar, Buena, NJ, manufactures standard and custom plastic bottles ideally suited for a range of pharmaceutical, vitamin and supplement products. To meet the growing demand for plastic bottle production Comar has begun a $7 million expansion of its manufacturing plant in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.

Comar’s renovations are underway to combine two buildings into a single 100,000+ square foot space with state-of-the-art climate control. The company invested significantly in new tooling and higher cavitation. The facility will continue to manufacture using high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) with injection stretch and extrusion blow molding machines. A number of molding machines and plastic molds will be added to help streamline production. The investment in new equipment, both upstream and downstream will aim to cut energy costs and allow Comar to be even more responsive to customer needs. Physical plant expansion and improvements will provide room for future growth, which includes the potential for additional employees.
 
“We are continuing to operate the plant while renovations are being made, and recently received ISO 9001:2008 certification. We are committed to our customers and to making this location a world-class manufacturing plant,” said Comar CEO Michael Ruggieri.
 
Expanding the plastic bottles and containers facility comes at a critical time, the company said, in response to increased demand for innovative and cost-saving solutions for nutritional and pharmaceutical markets. Private investment firm Graham Partners Inc. acquired Paradigm Packaging Inc., which included this California site, in Dec. 2013 from Linsalata Capital Partners. Graham combined Paradigm with sister companies Scandia Plastics and Precision Medical Inc. to create Convergence Packaging. Convergence, last year, then was merged into Comar, another Graham Partners portfolio company.
 
The Rancho Cucamonga, CA plastic nutraceutical bottles and containers manufacturing facility will primarily serve the western portion of the U.S. The east coast pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and supplement market is served by Comar’s Saddle Brook, NJ manufacturing plant. Comar also has four other plant locations that make up its national footprint, and further serve the Health and Wellness, Specialty Food, Personal Care, Household and Industrial markets.
