Amy Wescott, Operations Manager and Scientist for Evolved Probiotics, discussed the company’s scientific foundation, women’s health innovation, and evolving consumer attitudes toward probiotics in this interview at SupplySide Global.

While Evolved Probiotics is new to the human health market, its parent company Arm & Hammer (Church & Dwight) has more than 20 years of probiotic expertise in animal nutrition. That scientific foundation is now guiding Evolved Probiotics’ entry into the dietary supplement space, backed by the company’s ScienceHearted Center and Performance Products Group.

The Evolved Probiotics portfolio features five proprietary strains designed to address distinct wellness areas: immune health, gut health, nutrient absorption (biotransformation), and women’s health. Among these, strain 3613-1, the company’s women’s health probiotic, is supported by new clinical data showing a significant delay in the onset of urinary tract infections (UTIs). With 50-60% of women experiencing UTIs and 26% suffering from chronic recurrence, according to the NIH, this strain offers a differentiated, clinically supported solution in a category that’s seen limited innovation over the past decade.

Wescott emphasized that Evolved Probiotics aims to empower women with more choices and bring solid science into an established but stagnant market segment.

Beyond women’s health, Wescott highlighted the growing consumer shift from reactive to proactive wellness. People are increasingly turning to probiotics not only for digestive balance but also for targeted benefits like skin health, brain health, and nutrient optimization. This trend signals a broadening definition of probiotic functionality, with consumers seeking more specific, science-driven products rather than generic “me-too” formulas.

At SupplySide Global, Evolved Probiotics also tied its brand presence to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, donating to the United Breast Cancer Foundation for every booth badge scanned.

With the Arm & Hammer brand heritage, clinical validation, and focus on personalized wellness, Evolved Probiotics is positioning itself at the forefront of the next phase in probiotic innovation.
