Company Mission: “Empowering people to own their health through legendary fast-acting whole herb remedies for those real-life moments when you need a powerful boost of nature to rebalance and revitalize.”

WishGarden Herbs began in Boulder, CO, with midwifery roots and a mission to provide safe, effective herbal remedies for women’s health. From those beginnings as a small mail-order company, Catherine Hunziker transformed WishGarden into a nationally recognized herbal brand, pioneering condition-specific formulas and memorable product names that made herbalism more approachable.

Today, the family-run company offers more than 130 blends for the whole family — from immunity and sleep to stress and postpartum support. “We remain proudly independent, woman-owned, and B Corp certified, staying true to our values while serving a wide community of wellness seekers, moms, midwives, and practitioners across the country,” said Anna Harshman, vice president of impact and development, and daughter of Founder Catherine Hunziker.

Being woman-owned in an industry historically dominated by men has come with challenges, from access to capital to being taken seriously at the table. “Catherine and our leadership team have leaned into persistence, transparency, and community support to grow this company,” Harshman said. “We also believe that being women-led is one of our greatest strengths. It’s part of the reason we’ve continued to grow while staying true to our ethos: valuing our staff as highly as family, holding people and relationships at the center, and leading with both vision and heart.”

Harshman offered this advice for female entrepreneurs: “Trust your intuition, surround yourself with allies who share your values, and don’t be afraid to do things differently. Innovation often comes from those willing to defy convention.”

Managing Uncertainty

The past couple of years have been shaped by supply chain pressures, rising costs, and shifting consumer behavior. With its own cGMP facility in Colorado and direct relationships with small farms and wildcrafters, some spanning multiple generations, Harshman said the company has been able to ethically source more than 150 different species of botanicals.

“This foundation has allowed us to stay resilient,” she added. “Our commitment to U.S.-based production and regenerative sourcing helped us weather global uncertainty better than many. We’re also seeing that consumers — especially younger ones — continue to prioritize value-driven brands despite economic pressures, which reinforces the path we’ve been on all along.”

B-Corp Certification

Committed to sustainability and social good, WishGarden has always been about more than profit, said Harshman. Validating its processes, the company earned B-Corp Certification this year following an extensive review of documentation regarding its regenerative sourcing practices, community and employee impact, and more.

“We balance people, plants, and planet in every decision,” said Harshman. “Becoming a Certified B Corporation in 2025 gave us a rigorous, third-party validation of values we’ve lived by for decades.”

About 98% of the company’s botanicals are either organically cultivated (52%), regenerative organic certified (25%), sustainably wild-crafted (14%), or forest farmed (5%).

WishGarden is committed to domestic sourcing, with 63% of botanicals in its products either grown or wildcrafted in the U.S. In 2025 the company also sponsored one of its longtime U.S.-based forest farming partners to achieve FairWild certification.

WishGarden’s team of herbalists and naturopaths work to create formulas that are rooted in tradition and validated by modern research.

Products & Innovation

This year the company expanded its women’s health and postpartum lines and introduced a collection of body care oils with new formulas that address modern stress, hormonal balance, and more.

The company’s R&D process is a unique blend of traditional herbal wisdom and modern science, said Harshman.

“Our team of herbalists and naturopaths work hand-in-hand to create formulas that are both rooted in tradition and validated by research. Right now, we’re particularly focused on immune resilience, stress response, and hormonal health — areas where consumers are seeking natural solutions they can trust.”

The company is “leaning into education,” she added, creating approachable content around tincture use and helping people feel confident using herbs in daily life. “Many people are curious but intimidated by herbal extracts, so we’re working hard to make herbalism accessible, safe, and even fun.”

Looking Forward

For the future, Harshman said the company will continue growing its presence in natural retail while also deepening its direct connection with customers online.

Expect WishGarden to continue investing in sustainability as well, from expanding regenerative farming partnerships to reducing packaging waste.

Harshman said she’s excited to see herbalism becoming mainstream, saying “plants belong in everyone’s toolkit for health.”

“What keeps us on our toes is ensuring we stay authentic and transparent as more players enter this space,” she added.

“At the end of the day, we want to remind people that herbalism isn’t a trend — it’s an ancient practice made modern. WishGarden has been part of that bridge for nearly five decades, and we’re just getting started.”
